I have always liked London but I love THE LONDON Hotel in Los Angeles. The London brings all the class and elegance of Victorian England to California but with one huge improvement – the sun, which we all know is a rarity in gloomy ol’ blighty.  What more could one ask for than boxwood hedges, Victorian wrought iron lamp-posts and a tasty full English brekky?

Located just off the famous and vibrant Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, I walked into The London to be greeted by the delightful, resident British Bulldog, jolly old Winston.

In the heart of a very American Los Angeles neighborhood, The London’s “vibe” is definitely English, which is just lovely!

The views are smashing with gorgeous sunsets and silhouetted palm trees.

The London hotel prides itself on having 226 spacious suites and mine was no exception.

For the ladies, they say they do everything big and over-sized in the US and these bathrooms are no exception.

I swam around in the over-sized tub, bellowed out Rule Britannia in the double sized walk-in shower, all the while sipping on British gin.

The full English breakfast did not fail to impress either. As a jolly Brit, even the queen would have been proud that in Los Angeles, they serve “proper” bacon, eggs, good old bangers, mushrooms, roasted tomato and baked beans, possibly even Heinz. 🙂 To keep the Americans happy, there is also a wedge of hash browns. The huge range of toasts were sliced in to the appropriate British chunky thickness to compliment a true proper brekky.

And after all that, there was just enough space for a delicately light, Belgian waffle with fresh berries.

For those not wanting to pile on the pounds, the Scottish salmon, smoked to perfection,  included fresh tomato, thin, rolled, slices of cucumber, capers and cream cheese and scrambled eggs, which were full of delicate taste without sitting heavy, early in the morning.  The Keurig coffee was an enjoyable black,  at the perfect temperature.

I must say The London hotel quite out did themselves with the in-room snack bar and drinks. We had a myriad of offerings including olive snacks, English toffee,  outrageously yummy truffle crisps, dark honey mustard pretzels, jelly babies,  M&M’s, chocolate almonds,  clandestine caramel pop corn.

I think they got the memo that “you can take the Brit out of the pub but you can’t take the pub out of the Brit”.  In true British style, the bar in the suite was very generous. It included a bottle of Patron, a bottle of Maker’s Mark, a bottle of Sapphire black label and a bottle of Mulholland vodka.

For the evening dinner we trotted off to the Boxwood Restaurant and bar for a traditional Pimm’s and lemonade and a Gordon Ramsey dinner of steak au poivre.

A must have is the most tasty, massive crispy onion rings and decadent chocolate pud.

The London definitely has everything under one roof;  a rooftop pool with spacious sundeck, private cabanas, and panoramic views, dog friendly, hairstyling, nail, and makeup services at Alex Roldan Salon; in-suite services are available.

The ‘Extras’ I enjoyed were excellent and prompt room service, complimentary calls to London (0207 & 0208 area codes only), a fun British bulldog window decal,

ear plugs, emergency torch in the bedside cabinet, room service 24/7 and the cutest mini bulldog toy offer for younger guests.

For those involved with the ‘movies’, Oscars or the Golden Globes, and wishing for a quality, brand new 110-seat state-of-the-art screening room, look no more.

If you don’t find what you need at The London, you are just walking distance from museums, restaurants, shops and clubs.

You have it all! So you can say toodloo to scrolling and carry on and book at The London.

Cheerio Chaps and Chapesses!

Brits in LA’s 5th Annual Toscars – Event Publicity by London Flair PR

In Brits in LA, The Toscars on March 13, 2012 at 9:31 am

So, this week it was  LIFE, CAMERA, WHACTION as films competed in  the 5th annual Toscars at Supperclub.

Congratulations to all nominees and film participants, the standard was raised significantly and the event was quite remarkable. Bruce Vilanch said it best… “This event is way more fun than the actual Oscars.” and he was right.  Huge thanks to the talented and funny Jim Tavare who MC’d the evening for us, and big hugs to your Judges, Sandro Monetti told me that the thinks the event is gonna get bigger and bigger as each year goes by, Siobhan Fahey looked stunning, as did Drew Droege as Chloe on the red carpet. Skeet Ulrich wanted to vote for Saw Horse but said the acting was a little  too wooden LOL.  Bradley Walsh had some fun British banter with Jim on the stage before presenting the best whactress award to London Flair PR client Laura Waddell for ‘Midnight in Parody’ and Bruce gave the awards for best screenplay and best movie (‘Midnight in Parody’ and the ‘Con-Artist’, respectively).

The winner of the 2012 Toscar for Best Parody The Con-Artist.

A huge thank you to all that attended and bid on the silent auction. We raised $2,600 for the charity The Actors Fund, who do such great work for lost souls and struggling artists throughout the US. Congrats to all the winners and participants. And big thank you’s to all our volunteers and sponsors – Bernard Sidman Immigration AttorneyGeek EyewearBlue Ice VodkaSupper Club and Insert Music.

Thanks to James Ridley who helped us produce the event and did a smashing job, I’m sure you’ll agree. And Catherine Lyn Scott from London Flair PR who ran the red carpet superbly and got us lots of good press. See all the press at www.thetoscars.com
